Here is another picture of Kitler without his hat. Personally I find him to be creepy and am pleased he is not here anymore. He tried to exterminate the entire country of Poland. Fuck that guy. It would be neat if they could figure out a way to bring him back to life just to be able to use new and interesting ways to kill him. The first should be getting gnawed to death by a kitty kat.

The Badger on : mandating background checks for people who purchase guns at gun shows

It seems to me that any legislation designed to give the government a reason to deny someone something that would otherwise be their right as a citizen is just a thinly disguised attempt at exerting more control than they are entitled to. Why is it that our government keeps up this chronic power tripping? Many people feel that all the conspiracy theories are just crack pot ideas but this makes me wonder. The politicians know better. Why is that they seek more power for an entity that already can steamroll individual states into towing whatever line it sees fit? Why is the fed so scared of upholding constitutional rights for people? Its not broken yet but if they keep trying to fix it, it will break.
So back to background checks. If you have ever been in a combat situation, you may have had a guy who was a little "touched" in the head on your team. Sometimes combat does that to people and sometimes they enlist like that. He didn't talk much and sometimes didn't make perfect sense when he did. You may have wondered if he was even a bit retarded. Any reservations went out the window though when the bullets started. When the shit hit the fan, you were thanking God that guy was on your side. Would he pass a background check? If you have ever sought medical help for depression, would you pass a background check? Does a background check have fuck-all to do with whether someone can safely handle a firearm or better yet, whether someone can use their firearm at the right time and place? Here is where we have to have a dose of reality. Felons can get guns cheaper and faster than citizens. They will always have guns. The only thing background checks will accomplish is to legally exclude more people from owning weapons, thereby depriving them of a legal way to protect themselves and their families. They will either 1) use someone elses' gun 2) buy a stolen gun 3) give up their guns and not have any around anymore. For a large number of law abiding citizens, the third option is unacceptable. The bill will force more people into becoming criminals which then breeds mistrust of the entire system of laws.
The only way a person should be excluded from their second amendment rights is to either be currently declared a danger to themselves or others, mentally incompetent to either handle a firearm or distinguish between friend and foe, or to be declared no longer a citizen. I think this is the best idea. Just excommunicate or unpatriate, or whatever you want to call it, any group or individuals that the government doesn't think should have a gun. Then at least they won't be guilty of pissing on the very constitution they swore to uphold. That's what I think. Even the law that says that former felons can't own a gun is still unconstitutional near as I can tell.  If the motherfucker can vote he ought to have as much right to a gun as anyone else. Period.
I am the badger and that's how I see it. If you don't agree there's a box below where I entertain whining.

Smoking

I smoke. I grew up in a time where seemingly everyone smoked. You could smoke in the grocery store while you examined the fresh produce. You could smoke at your desk at work.  I am addicted. My attempts at quitting have only been temporarily successful through the use of nicotine replacement therapy. When I have to step down off the nicotine I don't last long.I try to be a good person outside of this, and most days I think I succeed. I say this as a preface of my message to the passive-aggressive non-smoking folks out there. I'm not saying all non-smokers are like this. No, this is for that special brand of non-smoker and you know who you are. Those people that feel the need to use their contorted facial expressions, sarcasm, fake coughing and body language to communicate their displeasure at my smoking. Here are some things I would like people to consider, prior to using me as their whipping boy.

First, I am addicted so I don't give a rat's ass what anyone else's opinion is on the subject. If they make smoking illegal, I will smoke twice as much. If people call the cops on me for smoking then I will plant drugs on their kids and call the cops on them. I am not messing around. My father died of lung cancer in his early 60's. It will probably kill me as well. I am aware of this. Think about that and the implications of that. I am willingly engaging in an act that will result in my death. I may be crazy but I am not stupid. So the idea that I somehow am not aware of the dangers of smoking is insulting to me. A lecture on what tobacco does to people is unnecessary as I probably have a much better understanding on that than most . Yet some insipid moron will insist I listen to their opinion on the subject as if they are going to be the one that finally breaks through to me. Like if I wasn't so stupid, I would understand and stop. 

If you are one of these people I implore you to seek help. This type of person is too stupid to realize how stupid they are themselves. Their thinking is selfish, grandiose, and they may have a narcissistic personality disorder. They think they are being helpful or showing "tough love". Would you walk up to some Taliban soldier and explain to him why his jihad is silly?. Why not? Because he'd kill you, that's why. And why would he kill you? Because he believes so strongly in his idea that he is willing to die for his idea. The act of smoking by an educated person indicates either a similar fanaticism, or an extreme addiction, or both. Either way that person is dangerous. I have heard the pros and cons. Stop trying to explain your non-smoking insanity to me. I don't listen well.

Now, for the fake coughers. Once again, stupid people often mistake others for being just as stupid as they are. This is probably because they are too stupid to realize that most other people have a little more on the ball then they they do. This is not their fault, but it is annoying. I know the cough is fake. Everyone knows the cough is fake. I, for one, would like it if the fake coughers would please refrain from fake coughing as a way of expressing displeasure when someone else is smoking.  It would serve these folks well to examine why it is they have to invent a fake cough, anyways. Could it be that they are not actually being harmed in the manner that they try to pretend?

The last point I would like to make is that these non-smokers are no angels themselves. Oh far from it. So why pick on me like I am single-handedly destroying the earth with my cigarette? One lady needed to tell me about how bad it is for the environment on her way out of the dry cleaners. The Dry Cleaners! They use chemicals guaranteed to give you cancer by the time you get home! Speaking of home, the 8-man 4WD diesel crew cab dually she was driving probably wasn't too environmentally friendly, either. All that stuff people buy at Walmart? It's just lining the pockets of the communists in China. Our people are out of work while people just like this lady hand over money to a country that executes 1000's of its own citizens every year. Don't get me started.

Alas, I am a dinosaur. Those of us who grew up surrounded by smoke are dying off, replaced by a generation that has never seen the ubiquity of nicotine in the old days. Children just wonder why would anyone start? And that is good. Just miss me with the dramatic bullshit or the stories of how it killed your father. Don't worry. It'll kill me soon enough and you can go back to breathing fresh air again in your house next to the freeway.
